Pupil Premium payments are allocated to local authorities and schools with pupils that are known to have been eligible for free school meals (FSM) at any time in the last six years. The money must be used to ensure a child’s progress at school meets nationally set targets. This particular funding is not targeted at children with special needs and requirements.
Schools have the freedom to spend the Pupil Premium payments in a way they think will best address inequalities, tackle disadvantage and support the raising of attainment for their pupils. We assure parents/carers that the use of this special fund is treated with discretion and always in confidence. We are also very careful to ensure that eligible children are not singled out nor seen to be different in any way compared to other children.
